On Tuesday, March 20th at 6pm, Rotarians from northern Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan, along with their their guests, gathered at Boulder Ridge Country Club, Lake in the Hills, for a Charter Night celebration.  A reception and cocktails was followed by dinner and program.

The newest Club of Rotary International has officially formed in the northwest suburbs. Northwest Rotary Supper Club (Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Huntley) joins District 6440. This is the first new Rotary Club in this area in more than five years. Twenty-one charter members hail from Johnsburg to St Charles, and one in Michigan, thanks to live streaming of meetings.

Keynote speaker is Shannon Scheffel. She served as the 2014-15 District Governor for District 6420 and on its Charitable Foundation Board. Some of Ms. Scheffel’s other Rotary International activities encompassed world travel for humanitarian activities. She traveled to Nigeria to work on project development, and was Team Leader for a 2016 Vocational Training Team to Uganda.

Northwest Rotary Supper Club meets twice monthly on alternate Mondays at 6:30pm for general dinner meetings, at Biaggi’s in Algonquin Commons, Randall Road. Additional service projects and social events are scheduled throughout the year.
